Summary

The C3 Pluriel is packed with good ideas and is a practical choice for fun-seekers.

Styling

Its certainly different - and it even looks quite good with the roof fully removed, although its a process we reckon most buyers wont want to repeat after the first attempt.

Handling

Completely indifferent driving manners and a leaden-footed ride mean this is a car best suited to low-speed urban cruising.

Comfort

The cramped seating position isnt suited to tall drivers and space in the back is very limited. The boot is tiny, too.

Quality

Like the C3, much of the Pluriels trim feels very low-rent - especially unfortunate as its so much more obvious with the roof removed.

Performance

The basic 1.4 litre petrol engine lacks punch, but at least its a better bet than the dreadful, lurchy 1.6 litre

Roominess

Awkward driving position and space in the back is poor, too. The roof can be fully removed to create a cabriolet, but youll get very wet if it starts raining before you can get home?

Costs

Cheap insurance for a cabriolet and servicing should be inexpensive too. Depreciation steep, though.

Value

As with the rest of the Citroen range, the Pluriels list price is just where negotiations begin. Look to carve at least £1500 off the official price.

Stereo

The audio system is quickly overwhelmed with the roof removed - or even just running with the full-length sunroof open. Satnav unavailable.
